Day 1350, War 126
Fading Lights, Stonecradle
I arrived on the back of a King Spire tank. I have to take radiation pills at breakfast to ensure I’m able to return with this report. They don’t help with the nausea I feel crossing the river at Buckler Sound. Here at Fading Lights on day 1350, it truly feels like this war has no end in sight.
The death toll here is staggering. Colonial tanks push through concrete ruins only to die to fresh Warden tanks. Then Warden tanks would do the same. A no man's land stretches from the outskirts of Fading Lights to its most southerly crossroads. A place where nobody bothers to remove the corpses or clear the rubble of the battle. I spoke to a man who said something about an endless supply of Colonial Tremola grenades that didn’t go off littering the battle. I was assured they wouldn’t go off, but couldn’t help the feeling that I was walking in a minefield. I saw a few Wardens pulling Lunaire grenade launchers off of corpses. Hundreds of dead were strewn across the ground, rifles still in hand. The medics were too preoccupied with freshly incoming wounded from Colonial advancement. The medical tents were burgeoning. I watched the light leave the eyes of so many lost souls.
A Warden Tankline participates in the Battle for Fading Lights

Somewhere around lunchtime I got word of a break in the line. At least two Warden battle tanks had been captured at that point and one of them had just gone down. Meanwhile, a Warden Storm cannon takes aim and fires. The tide turns, and with a lack of Colonial tanks pushing the front, Warden steel makes quick work of pushing the Colonials back. With that, Fading Lights lives another day. As the sun rose on day 1353, fighting was still raging along the southern border. Running low on pills, I retreated back to PressCorps HQ. Damn publishers won’t even cover my medical bills. This has been Diana Keys covering another day in the endless war.
