Day 539-544, War 120
Partisan Island, Oarbreaker Isles
Barges hit the shore, ramps drop.
Two tanks, one APC, two CV’s and an R-1 Hauler drive over the beach at Posterus. Colonial Legion Command admitted in hindsight it was an incredibly well put together operation with every soldier a cog in a well-oiled machine. Quote from a foot soldier on the ground that day. “I've never been part of such an organised push”. With six well placed 250mm shells a fortified bunker owned by the Wardens had fallen and a naval invasion had truly begun.
Legion troops moved north up the island, encountering minor resistance from guerrilla fighters but not enough to stop Legion troops from pushing further north. Action was swift and unyielding. Well-supplied troops armed with demolitions equipment made swift work of Warden defenses until they hit a wall. Fierce Warden resistance out of Fort Fogwood halted their advance and Wardens, despite being outnumbered and outgunned, held out for nearly a full day. Colonial Legion troops did manage to break the resistance in the end, taking two prisoners of war. Granting each a desired death is a move considered odious now, and brutal in a better time. Not many days passed before the island was retaken however. Legion forces had left the island barren and broken. On Day 544, Wardens had reclaimed a barren island with no resistance. All that was left to do was rebuild.
